A - B - C's

I'm sure you've seen my friend Natalie's world famous nursery? Or you might remember the story about how Dusty and I flew to New Orleans to surprise Natalie and knock this nursery out of the park? But instead, New Orleans knocked us on our ass?

Well, I thought I would share some fun art I was able to do for the room! Because lord knows I wasn't any help on the weekend I was there to help! #hangover #lamefriend

First up, mod podged alphabet!

Supplies needed:
  • Cardboard Letters (I bought A-Z at Joann's Craft Store while they were on sale and combined with a coupon. Actually to be honest, three Joann's were out of the letter 'O' so I bought an extra 'Q' and cut the tail off!)
  • Paint (whatever color you want on the edges, I used an off-white)
  • Mod Podge (I think I used Matte)
  • 1-2" paint brush (bristle or sponge)
  • Lots of fun scrapbook paper
  • Pencil (used for tracing)
  • Exacto knife
  • Cutting board/mat (I use a plain ol' kitchen cutting mat)

I had a pretty big variety of paper but you might want to do some planning at this stage. Think about things like white space, colors, pattern, etc. If you have a paper that is almost solid, put it next to a paper that has more pattern. If you have a variety of colors, make sure you don't have two of the same color next to each other, etc.

Make sure the letter is facing the correct direction and the pattern you want is on the opposite side! Trace with a pencil. Cut out each letter with an exacto knife on a cutting board.

After this I painted the edges of all the letters, you can skip painting the middle and back since they will be covered by paper or up against the wall. This makes the drying process easy, no flipping!

I put a thin layer of mod podge on the paper and the cardboard letters and smoothed it out as best as possible. I did NOT mod podge over the entire letter but depending on the look and durability you want to achieve, that would be an option!

Here are some pictures of the entire set, in baby Joe's adorable nursery! Natalie really knocked this room out of the ballpark! You can see the entire room here!

I loved how she framed the letter 'J'

These are seriously awesome. So much so, in fact, that I'm wishing I had another free wall in Henry's nursery. Just lovely.

Menu Planning

I no longer share my weekly menu because it is rather boring since changing our eating habits. However, you can see the historical list in these places!
