shoot FLY shoot -- Online DSLR & Photography Training

After years of shooting 100% on automatic (mostly no flash automatic, as seen below) -- I decided it's time to get up close and personal with my DSLR. Automatic-no-flash served me well, and honestly, I'm not quite sold that *I* can do better!

Over the years I have learned my method of operation, here's how it goes:
  • I knew I wouldn't teach myself (the info is out there for free)!
  • I knew I wouldn't participate if it required homework (those are out there too)!
  • I knew I didn't live in Birmingham or anywhere that Click Workshops offers classes
  • I knew that I love Kevin and Layla from the Lettered Cottage, so I had to love Kevin's spin-off business shoot FLY shoot
  • I knew that if I spent $69.99 for a course that came without homework, I could do at my own pace -- I'd sit my ass down and get it done.
So that is what I did! The videos are really great, I definitely recommend the course. Especially if you have a short attention span and lack the ability to retain information (me). Once you purchase the course, you have life-long access to the videos (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, metering, portraits and home photography). I've actually already watched the videos multiple times. I spent the weekend taking hundreds of photos -- most were overblown, too dark, blurry -- but a few were just right (eee!).

I have a long road of practice ahead of me -- and I am nervous to shoot something important in manual! But I at least have the knowledge and tools to do so. Even now when I practice I take one in manual and one in auto-no-flash, just in case and to compare. Comparing really helps me learn too!

As life would have it....two days after I paid full price -- this photo popped up on my Facebook News feed. Thanks for thinking of me girls! C'est la vie! (coupon is good through tomorrow!)

Geez, and now there is a Groupon? I have bad timing! And yes, that's the one I took!

I no longer share my weekly menu because it is rather boring since changing our eating habits. However, you can see the historical list in these places!
