Western Baby Shower
Back in March (yikes) I flew home to Boise to throw my sister her baby shower and get the nursery set up for her baby girl! I even got to go to a doctor's appointment and hear the heartbeat! It was amazing. My niece is here now (more to come on that when I catch up!) but let's take a trip back and see the shower and nursery!
Taking photos is apparently not a genetic trait because my sister NEVER takes pictures! I was so excited to see her baby belly when I arrived, I had no idea what she looked like pregnant. Surprise!
Of course, my sister looked amazing. A couple years before getting pregnant my sister struggled with a mild form of PCOS and was even taking medication. After some inspiration from me she decided to go vegetarian for a while. This diet change helped her lose about 40lbs which regulated her cycle enough to get off the medication AND get pregnant! She went back to meat once she got pregnant but has continued to lose weight with her new eating lifestyle.Go sister! And thank you, I need a niece!

Ashley really wanted a tree in the nursery so we picked one from Pinterest and re-created it as best I could! She still wants to add some art work but I think it turned out pretty cute!

We built the crib and changing table/dresser one night -- that was fun (not). Such a cute set though!

We bought tons of canvas bins and some closet shelving to help fit all of the stuff she received at the shower and before that! Auntie Allison is responsible for about 80% of those clothes hanging.
We also bought one of these cube storage shelves -- they are so great to store stuff you want hidden combined with some display items. Miss Haegan already has three pairs of cowgirl boots (and a camel from Dubai)!

The kitties think this room is specifically for them....silly kitties, cribs are for kids!

SHOWER TIME!

Planning out of town proves to be challenging but my mom and Ashley's sister in law were a lot of help! My mom was able to get us a great deal on a banquet room at the Hilton, it was so nice! The star of the show was the cake. It was SO cute! Ashley's sister-in-law was tasked with the cake and she really came through! It was tasty too! If you are in the treasure valley, I would highly recommend Dulce Cake Designs!

I had a vision on my head of a string of baby photos of the parents but I couldn't think of what to hang them on -- that could travel with me. I wanted a big old shutter or piece of barn wood but that was pretty difficult to find in the short time I had after landing and before the shower.
My mom went to a home store and found this scrap of lattice for $3, PERFECT! This area is where the diaper raffle tickets were filled out. All of the guests spent time oohing and ahhing over the baby pictures of Ashley and Tyrel -- trying to guess who Haegan will look like most (update: it's Tyrel!)!

Ashley checking it all out....
The bandana lanterns were from Oriental Trading, the flower vases from the dollar store and the flowers from Costco!

Look at all those gifts!

Diaper Raffle results!
We couldn't really hang the lanterns anywhere so we just tossed them wherever there was a spot!

Next up - activities!
We played one traditional game -- tailored to my animal-loving sister -- an animal gestation quiz! It was pretty fun! We also did a sentimental 'keeper' activity as well. Something she can put into her baby book to keep! These were so fun to read when we got home, I can't wait to read them to Haegan when she is older!
We also played bingo while she opened gifts.

Even dad got a present -- this hilarious t-shirt and a 12 pack of beer :)

It was a wonderful day and she was showered with love and gifts! We were SO ready to meet the baby girl!

My mom, sis and grandma!

Love you so much sister, so glad to be a part of your special day and I am SO happy you are making me an auntie!
