Sock Bun Curls - The Results
As promised...the result of my sock bun. Definitely not amazing but promising. I'll definitely keep trying the technique. I ended up with quite a few kinks...and some flat areas -- but -- with a curling iron touch up I was good to go.
However, between the video (in my previous post) and this picture from (www.lovemaegan.com) -- I was pretty disappointed with my results. (edited on 08/09/2011: turns out this picture is touched up with a curling iron after the no-heat curl method! I feel much better about my results in that case!)

meh.

Hmm. Maybe use a little mousse or something.
Love the new header!
meh was my exactly thoughts to my experiment with the sock bun curls. I didn't really get curls- the ends just flipped out like I was Bobbi Sue going to a 1953 sock hop.
I think I'll continue using my curling iron.

I just saw this technique on Pinterest. http://ohsohappytogether.blogspot.com/2011/06/easiest-curls-ever.html
Haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising!
I think that is a great idea Brandy, some sort of product! Next time!
MV, I have seen that one too, I need to pick up a headband and give that one a shot! The technique certainly looks easier!
Photo credit should go to www.lovemaegan.com, but this was supposedly the results of the headband curls method, not the sock bun. Also, she tweaked it with the addition of a curling iron after. Her initial results weren't stellar but she liked them as a starting point. :)
Ooh thanks Summer! That explains a lot! I definitely agree, its a great way to get volume and wave to be touched up with a curling iron later!
